Collaborative Law

Collaborative Law is also referred to as collaborative practice, collaborative divorce, or collaborative family law. It is a family law process that is intended to provide a divorcing couple with the chance to resolve their issues without requiring court intervention.

As it is a voluntary process, the couple will sign a contract to begin the process, which binds them to the process and disqualifying their respective attorneys’ right to represent either one in any future litigation involving those issues. Many legal professionals and judges believe that Collaborative Law is a less damaging approach to resolving divorce and custody issues then the traditional litigation route.

Richard Trunnell has been handling divorce and custody cases since 1993, was trained in Collaborative Law in 2008 and is a member of the Anne Arundel Collaborative Law Professionals Group, a local group of Collaborative Law Professionals who are trained in and provide collaborative law services to their clients.
