Attorney Richard Trunnell Hosts CLE Program About Child Witnesses in Trials

In many legal cases that go to trial, some of the best and most credible testimonies will come from child witnesses. However, the prospect of using a child witness is always precarious. Children understandably feel intimidated in a legal setting and may become too nervous to relay reliable information. There is also the possibility that a child may feel open about lying or exaggerating, not comprehending the seriousness of the situation and the societal expectations of someone under oath.

To help more legal professionals understand and prepare for the complexities inherent with child witnesses in trials, Attorney Richard Trunnell of Trunnell Law, LLC in Anne Arundel County will soon host a seminar about the topic. With his insight, experience, and knowledgeability, all in attendance will be able to leave the two-hour seminar with a much better grasp of how to manage cases involving a child witness.

They will also cover situations in which it is not worth bringing a child to testify, as the worth of their statements might be overshadowed by potential psychological or developmental impacts brought forth by the experience as a whole.
